THE BENEFITS OF INVESTING IN A
WATER GARDEN
about us | water features | safety | contact |
A water garden is a great addition to your lifestyle and to your
property.
When you invest in a water garden your property value will rise
accordingly however, the greatest benefit is to the lifestyle
of yourself, your family and your friends.
Water will enliven your
surroundings, whether it is a still reflective pool or a burbling
stream with waterfalls. It invites you into the garden, and evokes
a sense of mystery, where does it come from, where does it go?
The sound of moving water is relaxing and cooling. Moving water
can also be used to mask the sound of traffic from a nearby road
or other unwanted noise.
You can keep fish, some of the larger ponds/lochs, which have
built are stocked with trout. Frogs, Newts, Water Beetles and
Water Boatmen will all find their wn way to your pond and birds
will be able to enjoy a good bath.
If you are a keen gardener a pond will give you a whole new range
of planting opportunities, water lilies, marginal plants and bog
plants. If you prefer a low maintenance garden, then exchange
grass for water, no more grass cutting! We also provide a maintenance
service to keep your pond in top condition.

WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY?
about us | water features | safety | contact |
Water can be dangerous and in general ponds have a bad safety record. More often this is due to the way they are built, most ponds consist of a bowl shaped excavation with a plastic liner in it and non secure edgings. Dangerousness occurs as it is very easy to fall in if the edging gives way and then it is very difficult to escape when the base of the pond slopes up and consists of slimey plastic.
At splash gordon, safety consideration is a priority. Our ponds are built with edgings that are secured and the base of the pond is flat, Leading to a vertical edge at the side of the pond, which is easy to grab hold of and climb out. If a design does include a sloping edge then it will be easy to walk up, like a beach.
However, open water is still dangerous and we urge families with toddlers and young children to consider the dangers that can accompany
a water feature. If you already have a pond, the easiest option is to fence it off. You can also have a safety grid installed, just a few millimetres beneath the water, visit www.safapond.co.uk for pond grids.
It is possible to create water features without open water, drilled boulders with water emerging from them and then draining into hidden reservoirs below. Streams can also have hidden reservoirs and the water in the stream only needs to be a centimetre deep.
